The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 从电影层面来说，这片子也就值两星，没有导演思维，没有剧作逻辑，甚至可以说不算个电影。但是它胜在真实的情感以及强大精准的催泪点（母爱的早逝），观众的情绪完全被这个带着走了，压根顾及不到其他方面。原以为豆瓣这里是最讲究逼格以及聚集了最多深度影迷，打分会比较讲究，然而从评分结果看，其实大多数人还是吃这种情绪大补汤，理性在感性面前啥也不是。希望以后不要招来大片模仿，这样的整体电影审美又下坡路了就，这样就比较可惜了。
前面这些天听够了大家的笑死哭死等夸张评论，眼瞅着春节档这唯一的8分电影满怀期待，看完后内心一片狐疑“就这？？？”不管是造梦还是穿越都特别偷懒，甚至编剧都没想怎么去说服观众，只想我逗你们笑让你们哭就行了，然而这电影既不好笑也不好哭。一切都特别矫揉造作，甚至还不如当初的小品好笑，也不如贾玲在综艺节目里回忆自己妈妈煽情。沈腾的出现就好像贾玲需要一个拉票房的演员，然后靠友情求过来硬塞进来。你以为这就够工具人了？那么陈赫的出现让你无比困惑，他存在的意义是什么？

在影片的结尾部分，留给观众的，唯一担之不去的问题是五福是否会喝下孟婆汤，这将抹去他前世的记忆，为转世投胎做准备。
因为被剧透了结尾，我从开始就在寻找线索，从片头哭到片尾。技巧不足，但感情真挚。另外女性叙事真是太舒服了，没有刻板印象、没有颜色笑话、也没有常见的用歧视某一方面的弱势群体来做笑点。每个人都那么鲜活热烈，我真太喜欢了。
好无聊好无聊，旁边的小朋友被无聊哭了，真的难看。不知道要讲什么，笑点还都很尬，贾玲演的这个人真的好奇怪，还一直愁眉苦脸的，她煎熬，我看她也煎熬。看在沈腾的份上两星吧，张小斐也还行
其实如果从电影的角度来说，五星是肯定不到的，四星顶多吧。但从整部电影的情感来说的话，真的太真挚了。我相信贾玲一定是把那个充满了遗憾的自己刀剐了千百遍，抚慰了千万遍，把见母亲最后一面的一幕想象了无数遍，才能产出如此真诚的一部电影
被捧得很高的贺岁档 感觉剧情有点俗套 全片唯一的亮点大概是她妈也穿越了吧
如果你看过足够多的电影，那你在新片里总能找出过去经典老片的影子，但只要足够真诚，我还是不会吝惜自己的钞票和掌声，去影院迎接这熟悉又新鲜的感动。
1.5。喜剧元素出众，笑点属上乘。靠细节抓住时代感，通过时代落差反过来促进笑点
泼辣，厚实，乡土，生猛。以川剧兴衰的视角折射中国近代史，戏剧式的布局与布景更添一层讽谑面纱，三小时笑看历史与记忆荒腔走板。
谁不想去父母年轻的那个时候看看呢？！老生常谈的故事，司空见惯的段落，有些笑点，有些泪点，但大部分是挺无趣的。放在春节档里，倒是有挺好的宣传口（带着父母等等）来吸引观众入场。

可以不谈电影审美，但必须要有基本的审丑能力！

故事其实只能算是合格，“姑且算个电影”的程度（当然春节档还有不算电影的），但是视角太难得了，社会发展到现在，我们是应该有一部以母亲或者说以女性为主的现象级电影了，何况，它还那么真诚。结尾确实好哭，很狡猾了，这么写没什么人能不哭吧，就像对大部分人来说，你妈确实是真的爱你。

贾玲是有天赋的，角色选得也很绝，包括年轻和中年李焕英，还有爸爸。最令人感动的是表演的那一场戏，从来没有一部电影是两位女性在这么浪漫的镜头里，互相心里只有对方，灿烂笑容和眼中的点点星光，她们只和对方共享。
但这并不是电影想要表达的主题，电影想表达的是，你的母亲觉得有你这样的儿女，就已经很幸福了。
